Artist's Description

The Moon normally appears greyish to the human eye (or silvery, if you have a poetic nature), but there is in fact a wealth of subtle colour on its surface. Just as different rocks and minerals on Earth have colour variations due to differences in mineral composition, so does the Moon. With careful processing it is possible to bring out the colour variations over its surface.

Photographed with a 150mm Newtonian reflector, at Newtonian (prime) focus.
