Artist's Description

This image brings together two effects that i have always liked – lens flaring and fish eye. I remember spending a long time aligning the tripod to capture the street light at the top of the image, paying meticulous concentration on the tiny viewfinder of the camera. The fish eye effect in this image is dramatic, but the thick black bordering draws my eye the the detail of the city scape.

This photo was captured using Nikon 35mm camera in Melbourne City. It was actually captured at late at night, in pitch black. Im not a fan of the flash (dont know how to use it), so i used a 10 second shutter on this image. And the beauty of film is that at the time of capture, there is the chance that every image could be washed out, or pitch black – no previews, just a bit of luck.
