A good friend here on the Bubble reminded me of the beauty of Yosemite National Park. The park is so much more than just the iconic “valley” we see so often. The backside of the park is a great wilderness and accessible only by horse or foot .From the many access points there are hundreds of “day” hikes that intrepid photographers can easily get to. These hikes can take as much as five or six hours down to just a few hundred yards.. I do a lot of backpacking in this area and have spent easily over a hundred nights watching the most incredible “star” show on the planet. The elevations in this area average around 9500 feet above sea level to a upper height of around 11000 ft. The sky is not really blue here but more of a indigo color .The night is almost bright, illuminated only by the stars.. Thanks Lynn, for reminding me of this beautiful country…D.
This is “Cooney” lake on the east side of the park located in California,USA..It is about 3 miles from the Virginia Lakes access point…its a moderate hike but worth the effort…d.
