Oranges in an Apple Tree

The leaves they match, our limbs do too

Bright sun they catch and dry up the dew

From up high the earth looks the same

Green grass, rolling hills, Mother Nature’s game

The wind blows as the trees speak in rustling tones

Lost stories of conquest blow away with their groans

One tree had been placed to outshine the rest

It had no problem with being the best

Tall, spreading upward a difference was seen

An orange misplaced something came out from the green

Apples were forming from what was a seed

This giant creation grew apples indeed

The fruit began speaking to each other with zest

These fruity concoctions were seeing who’s best

Red shiny outsides and sweetness tucked in

One noticed something he thought was a sin

Apples in this tree were red and stayed firm

Too hard to break through for even a worm

They all told each other why they were top dog

But something was different in this not yet dead log

Up in the highest part of this branch

Two oranges were sitting in this apple tree ranch

They did not say much when the apples attacked

They simply stood laughing at the crates that were stacked

Picking and tossing the bad to the side

The oranges were laughing as the apples soon cried

“You may be a Beauty,” the oranges exclaimed

They pointed at signage that simply named

“The apples are picked fresh and sold every day,

The oranges are just here on a free holiday”

The moral is easy you will understand

Don’t go on thinking you are in demand

When sitting and judging the difference in life

Your sameness can guide you to toil and strife
