The Famine Inside

I hunger though I cannot eat.
I try to fight but cannot beat.
I’m rich but on the outside poor.
No key to use to unlock the door.
My color seems to hold me down.
Can’t find a smile only frown.
A promise that is blocked by greed.
Again they will not let me feed.
I searched this world so far and wide.
No key was found to get inside.
Through opened windows I see them eat.
I still fight I cannot beat.
I view free men set in their chair.
Why for me is life unfair.
My own pathway I’ll carve myself.
Since no one shares what’s on their shelf.
Hungry yes and starving still.
I must rely on God’s good will.
With drive I’ll find a way to fight.
I’ll battle hunger with all my might.
And when I see the fight is won.
I will prove to be freedoms son.
