I'm on Facebook

I have set up a page for my art on Facebook. I post work in progress in addition to completed drawings and announcements. I’d be thrilled if you became a fan!

(Please note that I will not accept friend requests unless I actually know you personally. Don’t be offended, I just like to keep my personal and professional lives separate.)

Thanks!

Exhibit Planned in Texas Next Month

Just thought I’d share the news! My penguins have been accepted to the 8th Annual Wildlife Juried Art Competition in Irving, Texas. The exhibit will run from October 4 through 29 at the Jaycee Center for the Arts, and is put on by the Irving Arts Association. This will be my first non-local exhibit, and definitely the first out-of-state. I’m quite excited!

Starting a Newsletter

I’ve decided to start a quarterly email newsletter, with summaries of recent completed art, announcements of future events, and hopefully drawing tips. If you subscribe between now and the end of June, I will put you in a raffle for one free giclee print of your choice (must be one of these drawings , size will be 10" on the longer edge, valued at up to $52). The winner will be chosen on July 1st. The only information I will collect besides email addresses will be the name and mailing address of the winner (for shipping).

To sign up, just email me or BubbleMail me your email address and whether you prefer HTML or plain text. Please do not post your email in a comment to this journal entry.

Thank you!

Gallery Exhibition

Last night was the opening reception for a local exhibit I was accepted to. The title is “Members’ Best” and is a juried exhibit of the best work of members of the gallery. I was the sole representative of charcoal. I had a lot of good response for my turtle, my only piece in the show, including one guy who asked me if I was a photographer. Here’s the official exhibit site. The show runs through September 6.

Big Project in the Works

I’d like to take this opportunity to announce my plans for huge project. This will be, by far, the biggest piece I’ve ever done and I expect it to take several months. I’ll be working on it in between smaller projects. I’m posting this now because if people know about it, I’ll be more motivated to work on it. I’m quite excited about it, actually.…

The scene will be an underwater coral reef. I’ll do it in colored pencil on 30″×15″ paper. I have done extensive research on various types of coral, fish and other sea life that live in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, and have put together a scene with a many of these animals with a great variety of color.

The layout is complete, and I’ve just started adding color. I will be keeping updates on my blog and will post updated images here as well.
