Artist's Description

This photo of this soulful monkey was
taken twenty-five years ago when I
traveled to Africa. His pensive face
and sparkling eyes reflect the wisdom
of the ages. I dedicate this photo to
Sally Omar as a tribute to her beloved
husband Omar who passed away last
month. Sally and I share a close communication
with nature and find solace and comfort
with the healing energies and
enlightened spirits of animals. Sally
is a loving soul who has a deep respect
for all of nature’s spirits. Looking into
the eyes of monkey, an exquisite soul
brings to mind the beautiful spirit of
Sally whose spiritual strength will
be a powerful healing force during this
difficult time in her life.

Sally is dearly loved by those
fortunate to know her and pair their art
with her eloquent poetry and books,
Many that are collaborations with members
of Redbubble. She has received the
loving support of her many friends who
respect and admire her loving heart,
generosity and poetic inspiration. She
has paired several poems with my work
and I am deeply appreciative of our
collaborations. Her words speak volumes
and I chose to quote her poem “Spirtland”
that added dimension and depth
to my photograph, “Spirit Tree,”
a magical and spiritual integration of
poetry and image. I sent her a personal
message quoting her words that reflect
the spiritual essence of this mystical
tree, an image that shows the central
figure’s arms raised toward the heavens.
Is Moe the Angel with golden wings?
Sally infused her beautiful and
enlightened spirit in her poem “Spiritland,”
When I read her words again, tears
came to my eyes reflecting upon her poignant
words as a reflection of her union with Moe
that remains alive in the majestic light of the
“Spirit Tree.”

“They wait very patiently
Arms wrapped around SPIRIT TREE
Somberly they are there
They can’t go anywhere
Souls that are left and cannot retrieve
Anything that they believed
Will they ever be let free
From the beautiful SPIRIT TREE
An Angel with wings of gold
Will come ever so bold
And grab their hands
And bring them to Spiritland
There they will again
Walk with old friends
And find a resting spot
Something they had forgot
When you pass the SPIRIT TREE
Remember none are free
This may be the place where you will go
No one ever knows
And should you be one day be there
You will have to say a prayer
So the Angel will come for you
And fly you to Spiritland too”
