Artist's Description

St. Serf’s church tower in the village of Dunning stands out against the forests and mountains of Perthshire. Legend has it that St. Serf killed a dragon nearby. Set in the Pictish heartland, the tower houses a magnificent Pictish carbed stone, the Dupplin Cross. I painted this on a stormy day, standing in the remains of an Iron Age hillfort looking across the strath to the montains of the Highland Line beyond.
