Artist's Description

The original of this colorful icon was made of cut paper with additions of paint and ink. The saint is shown holding a small bird in one hand and a book of the gospels in the other. To the right of the figure is the Wolf of Gubbio, a character in one of the most famous stories about Francis, and to the left, an image of a burning bush (not usually associated with Francis, but appropriate to him on several levels).
