All Alone Am I

I knew how it would be one day
When one of us succumbed to death
Alone would be the one who was left
While the one who left felt nothing gray.

It has been 2 months since you left me
When the last breath you drew and exhaled
Your normally pink face turned waxy, pale
Your dignity intact, at peace you be

Proud you would be, surely this I know
Your little women with heads held high
Rain-streaked faces cannot sunshine hide
The grave holds your lifeless body though.

So be not afraid, Christ will soon be here
To awaken those who in the earth sleep
With His angels men of earth He will reap
And His loud call the dead in Christ will hear.

Artist's Description

Now I am alone, yet I’m not all alone, for the Lord is always close beside me. As the saying goes, “Sorrow looks behind, worry looks around, but faith looks up.” My faith connects me to the Giver and Restorer of life. Though we are parted now, I have this hope that soon, very soon, Christ will come and break asunder the graves of those who trusted in His name, then Ed and I will be reunited.
