I Miss You, Brother of Mine

Today as I washed the dishes
My thoughts turned to you and I longed
To speak with you again, my friend.
How I miss those conversations
Reminiscing of days of old
When as kids we played evening games
Like hide-n-seek stoplight, and tag.
Carefree days with plenty of fun.
As the years passed, we kept in touch
By mail, by internet and by phone
Then came the world-shattering call
Telling me of the accident
And that you had been burned to death
How my heart aches still today
Even after all these years
The pain is as sharp now as then
Seeing you again is my hope
Deepest desire of my heart.
