Artist's Description

i spent two years here after the war and managed to explore most of the country. just a few miles out of prishtine we found these caves. the story goes that a guy found a hole behind his garage which is now developed into a mini tourist attraction. my two guys, on the right, live in the village, and escorted us through. there is a lot of this place, and it is all on one level, containing waterpools which never change in level or temperature. there is a second level, but it had not been fully explored, and we were not allowed up there. you can see that this is just a hillside, and the discovery of the caves was fairly recent, 30,40 years ago. i visited here maybe 3/4 times, and never tired of it. the kosovans had organised guides, and a ticket office, and the young fella on the left owned a cafe there, and also wired up the caves with floodlights!
