When I was walking around Pikes Place Market in Seattle, Washington and going in and out of shops, I entered this small shop that was selling childrens toys. Over against the wall was these old general store spice drawers. These drawers where once used to hold all these different spices and products. They use to sit behind the counter on the wall in a general store and the merchants would use a scoop and put some into a paper bag and put it on the scale to be weighed. This is how you purchased it back in the 1800s.
