Artist's Description

Welcome to some of my photos of my trip to beautiful Hawaii…
Cover Image..Hanauma Bay is known as Oahu’s premier spot for snorkeling because of its crystal clear water and spectacular marine life.

January…Aloha Tower…
A Hawaiian landmark, the Aloha Tower is a fully functioning lighthouse and clock tower on the Honolulu Harbor.

February…Big wave surfing at Sunset Beach, Oahu in Hawaii….
Sunset Beach is on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawai’i and known for big wave surfing during the winter season. The original Hawaiian name for this place is Paumalū. It is home to the Duke Kahanamoku Classic surfing competition, the O’Neill World Cup of Surfing competition, and is occasionally the site of the Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational.

March…The rugged coastline of Nothern Maui
This is what the incredible scenery of the rugged lava coastline in nothern Maui looks like.
Maui, Hawaii.

April…Volcano Helicopter tour in Hilo, Hawaii
We are on a helicopter tour that took us over the vent of the Kilauea Volcano System to view the volcanic activity. This is a view of the lava streaming directly into the ocean.
Hilo, Hawaii

May… Hawaiian Bamboo Nose Flute……
The Hawaiians believe that the nose is pure and innocent, unlike the mouth which can say many things. So the breath entering and exiting the ’ohe hano ihu is purer than the mouth. In olden days a man would serenade his sweetheart with the nose flute in order to woo her heart and win her affections.
Maui, Hawaii USA

June…Black volcanic beach at the end of the Road to Hana,Maui
Hana Bay Beach is a black-sand beach located on the eastern shore of Maui, Hawaii. The beach is popular for swimming, picnics and outrigger canoing. Hana Bay has a large, black sand beach which is the result of lava eroding and washing into the ocean from a nearby stream.

July…Checking out the conditions in Maui…….
With all the rocks out there, this looks like a rough place to take a board out too. Although Maui is not known as the center of the sport, the island has some incredible breaks. Oahu’s North Shore is the best spot for surfing good-sized waves with good shape, so they say.

August…Green Sea Turtle at Black Sands Beach in Kona, Hawaii….
At the shores of Black Sands Beach in Kona, Hawaii, we stopped to watch the large green sea turtles playing and catching some sun. We waded out into the pools and watched them swim.

September… KING KAMEHAMEHA I
The gilded cloak is based on one that Kamehameha’s subjects made for the king by weaving yellow feathers of native birds into a fine mesh net. The sandals, although not historically accurate, suggest the type of footwear that Kamehameha would have worn. The spear in his left hand symbolizes the ability to defend oneself and one’s nation; it is also a reminder that Kamehameha ended the wars among the Hawaiian people. His right hand is extended in a gesture of aloha, the traditional spirit of friendly greeting.
Honolulu, Hawaii

October..Keanae Maui, Hawaii
Keanae is an unincorporated town in Maui County on the island of Maui in the U.S. state of Hawaii. Ke‘anae is a peninsula known best for being one of Hawaii‘s major taro farm growing regions.

November… Lovely hula hands……
There are many styles of hula. They are commonly divided into two broad categories: Ancient hula, as performed before Western encounters with Hawaiʻi, is called kahiko. It is accompanied by chant and traditional instruments. Hula as it evolved under Western influence, in the 19th and 20th centuries, is called ʻauana. It is accompanied by song and Western-influenced musical instruments such as the guitar, the ʻukulele, and the double bass.
Honolulu, Hawaii USA

December…Blow hole in Kahului, Maui
The “blowing” of the water varies dramatically depending on tide levels and wave action. High tide and strong surf result in the best effects.
