Born To Walk Alone

Unfolding like rolled carpet
stretched before me
miles of unseen comings
knowing not what lies ahead
not peering with fear
only wonder and breathlessness
embracing the tomorrows
opening my arms to “yes I can!”
whistling as I go
singing to the lonely road
smiling in the faces of strangers
oh how freeing as a bird in flight
I catch and release the joys
swallow the inevitable sunsets
nest I do in the comfort of living wholly
each day brings a cup of overflowing brew
I sip with unguarded thirst
falling back into the arms of trust
alone outward, but not within my lovely shell
all the excitement are my companions
I rise at the peeking sunrise
run with the days mounting laughter
and follow this road before me
leaving only my hope for others behind
of peace on their alone but “not lonely” paths
sprinkled like bread crumbs of lavender bread
to be gleaned as their hunger arises
to set them free
just to be ….
