Don McCunn

Don McCunn is a photographer/costumer. The clothes seen in his images are garments he has designed and created.

I am a photographer/costumer raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I hold a BS in theatre from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in theatre from UCSB. For me photography is theatre at 1/60th of a second. It gives me particular pleasure to work with talented models to create original imagery inspired by fine art that has been enjoyed for centuries.

While I have had a lifelong interest in creating art, it is only since the Winter of 2011 that I have been exploring photography as a fine art form. I have taken classes about exhibiting photography from the Harvey Milk and Rayko Photography programs and workshops sponsored by the Professional Photographers Association of the Greater Bay Area. My first book of my photos is Revisiting the Classics.

I have shown my work at the South Beach Artists’ Open Studio, the Harvey Milk Gallery, the Fort Mason Holiday Art Show, and had two solo exhibits at Castro Tarts. I have been invited to exhibit my Sirens’ Cave print at the Center for Photographic Arts 2013 Juried Exhibition in January.
