Artist's Description

Anniversary Rose.
Camera Details This picture is just as it was out of the camera. Nikon D700 with 50mm f/1.4 Lense. ISO 100, f/1.4, 1/250th sec, handheld, close focus ring attached to front of lense. I know this soft focus effect can be re-created in PS5 quite easily, but It’s so much more fun and skillful, I think, actually capturing shots like this in camera. What do you think?

One of the roses from a bunch that I gave my wife for our 31st Wedding Anniversary. Yes friends, we’ve been married for 31 years and in that time have grown to love one another. I can honestly say that I love my wife more today that I did when we got married in Sept 1979.
Every year I’m reminded about our wedding in Redruth Cornwall. It was a tiny little Church on Carn Brae called St Euny, one of the oldest churches in Cornwall. The Tartan Clan descended from Edinburgh, all dressed in Kilts and traditional Scottish attire. We even had a pour-oot {throwing hundreds of pounds in small coins out of the wedding cars} and the local Cornish kids just stood and looked in amazement. In Scotland when I was a boy we’d always go to weddings, because we knew there’d be a poor-oot and we’d get some money in a mad scramble. If you were lucky on those occasions you could get as much as five shillings… LOL. That was a lot of money in those days:-) The Scots consider it a blessing to think of the poor people on their wedding day.

So back to our anniversary. We had a wonderful meal together. I cooked and got everyting ready, Jamaican Curry. It would have been goat, but we didn’t have any in West Norwood. A nice bottle of Sparkling white wine and a time to relax together.
31 years of happily married bliss. Ah, but we’ve had our tough times too, especially when I was serving in the RN and had to go away on my Submarines, that was hard on the wife and kids. But we always made up for the long, lonely months and had another baby:-) LOL.
How do you guys celebrate your anniversaries?
