Artist's Description

Edinburgh Castle View from the Queen’s Park.

Camera Nikon D700 with 240120mm Lense.

Each and every time I travel to my home city I always without fail make a pilgrimage to the Queen’s Park and the Salisbury Crags in particular. The view from the top of the crags is outstanding, especially in the morning light. This view was captured on my Nikon D700 from the base fo the crags. I wanted to get some shots from this angle this time.
“Why do I make this journey?” Well it’s personal really, I love the view and all that, but to be honest it’s a humbling experience. I just love going there with my Bible in hand (camera and tripot too of course), and sit and read a few passages listening to the Word of God, that really brings my life into perspective. It’s this place that has influenced so many of the major decisions I’ve made in life. I joined the Royal Navy after thinking in the Queen’s Park, I got married after thinking in the Queen’s Park and on each return visit my Heavenly Father speaks. when my mother was dying, and now my father suffering with lung cancer, God has really comforted me from His Word. Last time I re-read about how far God has removed my transgressions; “As far as the East is from the West, so have I removed your transgressions from you”. In so many ways I’ve failed God, failed myself in life and yet there’s the encouragement from God Word. He loves even me. Ahhhh the joy of being in a relationship with the Creator of the Universe.
When looking at Edinburgh from the Queen’s Park, I’m also reminded of the temptations Christ experienced. The whole world was before Him ans Satan said, “If you bow down and worship me, all this will be your’s”. God reminds me that if I gain the whole world, I’ll loose out on my relationship with Him. This world is beautiful (after all a beautiful Creator made it), but it’s nothing in comparison with knowing God as my Saviour and Lord.

God bless the Queen’s Park and all who visit her.
