Artist's Description

Often when the Turtle comes ashore, it does so at high tide. Having spent the night laying her eggs in the dunes, she turns to find 100 meters of sand and stone that she must drag herself across before she can reach her beloved ocean again.

This image was taken on Lady Musgrave Island. The island is a wonderland for a variety of sea birds that use the island as a nesting ground. During the Summer months Green Sea and Loggerhead Turtles come ashore to lay their clutch of eggs in the island dunes.
