Artist's Description

An interpretation of the comedian Stan Laurel’s stage debut at the Britannia Music Hall (or Panopticon as it was then known) in Glasgow in 1906. Laurel’s real name was Jefferson, and the board shows his actual billing on the night. Background elements (not historically accurate I’m sure!) include the nearby Tolbooth Steeple and Tron Steeple, as visible from the location of the theatre.
