Sharing South Dakota

Hi all,

I am just letting everyone know about the new challenge in the South Dakota group: South Dakota Best

I hope if you have an image of our state that you will be sure to join our group and put up your best work in this challenge. And here is a little inspiration from the SD tourism website to get you into the spirit of the challenge!

Our dog died yesterday...

Our dear dog, Summer, who has been with our family for 13 years passed away in her sleep yesterday afternoon. We knew at her age that every day was a bonus with her and we prayed that when it was her time to go, that we would not be faced with a difficult decision about weather to ‘help’ her or determine an end for her suffering. On Monday it was a holiday (Martin Luther King day) and the kids had no school. She played outside with them, chasing the snowmobile and tagging along as best she could on her wobbly, arthritic legs. In the evening we thought she seemed a little sluggish. Tuesday afternoon I came home at 1pm to find her lying in the driveway like she always does waiting for us to come home and she was gone. Our other dog is taking it pretty hard. He is 3 years old and has …

Where I've been...

My activity on RedBubble has been very scarce lately and I feel like I’ve lost some “friends” due to my neglect! If anyone is still there who I’ve been sharing this space with for the past few years that happened to miss me, here is the reason:…

I started building a canoe on December first, and while the project is still ongoing, I thought I better stop in and give an account of my whereabouts. I do enjoy the support and time others have invested in my photography and I MISS sharing with all of you and seeing your terrific pictures! I just want to offer just cause for my preoccupation and wish you are all having a fantastic winter and I hope to catch up soon!!

If you have any interest in the building process I have documented (far too extensively) every step of the build at a web album

Two sales in three days.....

After a bit of a dry spell and a sad couple weeks with my camera in for repairs I was really delighted to open my email Sunday and today and found I had sold two works this week!

A medium sized framed print of Spearfish Canyon

and matted print of Colors from the Earth

THANK YOU to the buyers!! I am so honored that you chose my work.

Exhibits and Publications.....

It has been a fantastic summer for sharing my photography and meeting new people and LEARNING the in’s and out’s of exhibiting my work.
I want to say a HUGE thanks to Yankton Area Arts for selecting my image “Ice on The Missouri” for their juried exhibit and awarding it the honor of Best of Show in their August 8th judging! I was absolutely astounded and thrilled to death!…

I am also extremely delighted to be the winner of the May photo competition in Midwest Living Magazine . They chose “Childhood Dreams”
out of thousands of astounding entries in their competition to be a prize winner (I won a Flip video camera!) and my image will be included in their end of the year competition for a grand prize of $3500! I’d encourage anyone with a love for the Midwest and photography to check out

Photography displayed in Chamberlain, South Dakota

The past weekend was a great experience and opportunity for me as a photographer. I was invited to be one of 4 artists featured in an art show at “The Meeting Place” in downtown Chamberlain, South Dakota.
The event brought out a large number of people and the feedback was so terrific. I met a lot of great people and learned a LOT! This was my first occassion of doing anything like this and it was quite a lot more work (and expense) than I anticipated but I did sell a framed print of “Colors from the Earth” and several greeting cards. The hardest part was carefully wrapping all the framed work so it wouldn’t jostle up against each other in the back of my Jeep and pulling enough pieces together to make a good show of it.
I was as nervous as could be about ma

Ready to hit the happy trail!

We’re headed West!!

My husband and I are taking a somewhat spontaneous trip out West to pick up a camper and truck to store for a friend over the summer. This involves a one way flight from Omaha, Nebraska to Bozeman, Montana ($79!) What a deal!! And then we drive the whole outfit back home to Vermillion, South Dakota.

Now — I’m the traveller in this marriage and my husband is not — though he did enjoy Wyoming and Montana very much last summer. We haven’t decided exactly on our route home but I ’m trying very hard to talk him out of the “straight shot” of Interstate 90 ALL THE WAY (yawn!!).

I want so badly to take the Beartooth Highway (212) .. also known as America’s Most Beautiful Highway. But I know this is out of the way. We will for sure be taking 3 days — maybe 4 to get hom

New Group I'm hosting....

I have just started a new group called South Dakota and would love you to help me get the word out so we can start gaining members and pulling together some of the great art and writing that I have seen on RedBubble that showcases the Land of Infinite Variety.
If you have ever lived here or just passed through and have something to add YOU’RE INVITED!!
Thank you!

Always thankful

For the many wonderful groups and group leaders who devote their time and energy to moderating, creating challenges, and featuring members… I would be remiss not to take a moment of time each month to thank these wonderful people for the way they have supported and promoted my photographic submissions. During the past couple of years that I have been a part of RedBubble it never ceases to fill me with surprise and gratitude to find my work recognized among so many talented individuals. Thank you ALL!! This is my favorite place in the whole “world wide web”.
You guys are AWESOME!!!!…
