Paradise Only Lasts So Long

Paradise Only Lasts So Long

Paradise only waits so long.
Come with me and
we’ll go to the moon,
or maybe the volcanoes of Mars.
At this time of year,
Venus has the best view
of the galaxy.

Take my hand and
let’s dive into life.
I can hear your heart,
feel your heart,
with your head in my hand,
I can see into your eyes.
Sparkling blue pools of dreams.
Did you feel it then?
When our souls
melted together and
I saw through the
tips of your fingers?

Close your eyes.
Inhale the heady scent
of lilac.
Breathe and fill your soul.
Sparkling champagne with
bubbles that carry us away.
Swallow, drink,
drink and fly.
Paradise is for tempting,
enjoying, indulging.
I love you, always,
or at least for now.

Come, come, come
with me now.
Time is passing,
an illusion of finite demand.
Can you hear me
calling your name?
The song of the Bellbird?
Dance and dream,
one, two, three,
one, two, three.
Quick a step and
I’m falling.
Great swirls of light
where my feet used to be.

One moment in time,
somewhere we’ll never find again.
Paradise only lasts so long.
