Wish

Wish

If I could have one wish in my life
I would wish to have you back
I loved you once and hurt you twice
I played the fool, and you paid the price

If you could have one wish in your life
Would you wish to have me back
I wish that you would
But I know you never could

I spent my life wishing
And I never had a wish come true
Was I wishing on the wrong star
Or did I simply push you way too far

You spent your life wishing
That I would always be there for you
Instead I left you crying
Now your fine, and I’m dying

I wish I could take it all back
But I know I cannot
Could you ever forgive me
Could you and me ever be

But truthfully, wishing is despair
When we wish for what we can’t have
And I wished for you
Knowing all a long it would never come true

Artist's Description

A poem about that love that just wasn’t meant to ever be. This poem, for me, is more real than you might ever know
