Silently creeping the enemy sows,
The seeds of destruction and soon they will grow,
Silently creeping, sowing the seed,
Arrogance, pride, envy and greed.
So what becomes of the seeds that are sown?
Insults, abuse, verbal arrows are thrown,
There’s so much destruction in things that men say,
And retaliation is the world’s way.
Backwards and forwards go verbal darts,
Fuelled by hatred that enters their hearts.
Fed by revenge to even the score,
Leading to riots, fighting and war.
Finger on the trigger aim firmly fixed,
Aimed at a victim, who will be next?
Innocent victim in a nation torn by war,
Another broken body lying lifeless on the floor.
As people search for hope, search for peace,
Violence, hatred and suffering increase,
It’s not by destruction or prejudice,
But only by love that the fighting will cease.
Envy and greed, riots and war,
Will never bring the peace that they’re looking for.
Searching for hope, searching for peace,
Only in God’s love will the world find true peace.

Sad but beautiful writing..
Thank you Chaley.
so true . the answer isn’t as hard as some think
Thanks Janeymac, I certainly isn’t.
As Barry Maguire sang, ’we’re on the eve of destruction’
and
‘there is a peace, the Prince of Peace,
and he can ease your troubled mind.
He came unashamed to die for you and me,
now we can come to Him on bended knee’
(if I remember correctly, I’ve got the words & music somewhere. Used to sing it in coffee houses in the late 70s)
Thank you Chris for those wonderful words.

Dave this is so very inspiring, honest, tragic and yet very hopeful at the same time. A beautifully crafted piece with a message so profoundly important that I echo Nancy in saying it should be shouted from the rooftops! A wonderful work!
