My Mask

I always knew you would ask
“Why must you wear a mask?”
And so I say to you
“So i cannot be seen through”
I use it to hide
For I await a low tide
But it will go away
If you want the true me to stay
If it will make you smile
I will wear it once in a great while
Now that it’s off
I utter a small cough
But thanks to you I can yell
“You have freed me from HELL!”
Thank you for freeing me
Everything is so clear to see
It’s all over now
Don’t even ask me how
I feel better already
Now can I hug my teddy?

Artist's Description

A lot of people hide who they truly are because, they think others will not accept them..so they put on ‘masks’ or ‘false appearences’ to appeal to others…basically this poem is tellin the reader to simply be yourself because you’re hurting yourself by not being yourse;lf it will seem scary at first, but you’lll get used to it
