It is easy to miss the dainty sulfer at less than an inch in size, the smallest of yellow butterflies, which seldom bares it’s yellow and black wing surface. Except in Summer the dainty sulfers fly close to the ground for reflected warmth. Their low flight, small size and pale yellowish underside blend with the rocks in which they perch. making them less vulnerable to predators.
From high mountain meadows to desert pavement all habitats support the dainty sulfer, but they survive the winters only on the regions southern region and are not regular farther North until Summer.
