Artist's Description

Taken in Tucson, AZ using a Canon Powershot SX10IS

A medium-sized, gray to tan lizard with flattened tail and long thin limbs. Tail bands are faint dorsally, but become black ventrally, where they starkly contrast with the white background. Markings consist of brown, peach, orange, or salmon spots on the back that often fade into a wash of yellow above the hind limbs. Forelimbs are often tinted yellow. Two dark, crescent-shaped side bars extend up from the belly just in front of the hind limbs. Where the bars are sub-dued or absent on females, on males they are surrounded by yellow dorsally and turquoise-blue ventrally.

Almost exclusively diurnal. Eats grasshoppers, spiders, spiders, flying insects, beetles and other invertebrates. mates and lays clutches of 2-9- eggs in spring and summer.
