A poem - Time Warp

Time warp 2000

Black shoes a little too flat
lacy plum brown legs
a plain chocolate two piece
and an incongruous PVC belt

Black sheep boa and extending
beyond, a repeat brown cloche bonnet
masking, or almost, a Louise Brooks bob and
vermilion lips

She is taking communion
a difficult operation,
“How do you know if a be-cloched communicant’s
mouth has met the edge of the goblet”? the priest muses

Bemused but sensible to the charming ensemble
he looks skyward for some divine intervention
before accepting that whatever happens is what is meant
She walks away smiling wryly.
