Inspirationals VII. 'Tis The Harsh That Rings

‘Tis the harsh that rings to us most true
The dark that makes us think of home
Joys and glories imagined are thus
Through adverse furrows such joys are sown

Braced against life’s icy winds
Steeled and with a heart of mettle
Onward we journey knowing within
Lies the soul we rein to settle

Strange, soft potential takes its mortal seat
‘Twixt mercurial and sublime in each it lies
With transgress and wonder each heart does beat
Plumbing pitch depths, or soaring it flies

When life moves on as it does from all
At the fateful curtain’s final draw
We slip beneath that deathly pall
And follow all who have gone before

Whether in credit or debt each life is riven
The heavenly ledger weighs up no more
‘Tis each mans final pride to have given
A good account of his tally, his score
