there is something special about autumn
Spring always brings the promise of rebirth
buds, foals, broods, bees and birds. Spring
reminds me of life after a good night’s rest.

Summer is the fulfillment of spring’s desire
flowers, trees with shade, sunlight
sunny days that burn like fire. Summer is
like joy.

Winter actually comes after autumn
brings chills and hot cocoa, cider
logs blazing in the fire. Winter always
reminds me of rest.

But autumn is a special time. The
smell of mold, the cold dark nights,
the dwindling light, the falling leaves
the air aglow with a final furious burst of color.
Autumn is where I find myself today. I want to
be seen and perhaps even heard.
