Autumn in the Great Dividing Range

Autumn scents hang in the air
Cool crisp mornings, days are fair.
Tumbling leaves of red and gold,
Orange, amber, brown unfold.
Piles of faded beauty smoulder,
Days are perfect, nights now colder.
Charred remains of autumn splendour
A winter coat for seedlings tender.
To rise again in spring to bloom,
Dispelling Winter’s chilly gloom

Autumn in the Great Dividing Range
