Artist's Description

The Shamrock Spider habitates tall grass areas of meadows, pastures or woodland edges. It forms a signal strand of web that extends from the center of its web to its retreat location; usually a tent made of dry leaves where it waits patiently for a victim. Such as one in this photo, incredible numbers of Shamrock webs are conspicuous with morning dew. These spiders produce a new web every night, and its previous web becomes their next meal as they eat them one strand at a time.

Photograhed in Navan, ON (Canada) with a Canon EOS 20D
