My Entry In the PhotoShop Masters Group – Diana Calvario

Catcher in the storm

1: Tell me something about the image?
I wanted to create a very specific autumn atmosphere with some movement in it. For the title I was influenced by the title of a book named “Catcher in the rye” a novel by J. D. Salinger.

2: How did you create it?
I started looking for some nice looking autumn leaves and a hand trying to catch them while the wind was blowing them through the air. The background clouds and the whole image was given a final touch by coloring it with autumn colors using the hue/saturation function.

3: What version of PhotoShop did you use?
Photoshop CS2

4: Any tips or tricks you would like to Share?
Well, let me see … I don’t really work with a lot of tricks and really great special effects. I focus more on the “keep it simple but neat” effect. Too much objects and movements in a photomanipulation can distract you from the main focus.

5: How did you go about learning PhotoShop?
It was mainly self taught but I had to learn it for my work since I create webpages and work as a webmaster.
