Flowers: 1 to 5 flowers per plant; creamy-white in color. Three petals, spreading, yellowish white, up to 3cm long, fringed at the margin. Each petal hairy on the inner surface with a purplish gland at the base. The 3 sepals, which appear between the petals, are greenish white, narrow, prominently veined and about 2.5cm long. Stamens are 6, large, white. Stigma 3-lobed.
Blooms: June to July
Fruit: 3-ridged, nodding capsule with many yellowish seeds.
Leaves: Single basal leaf, flat, up to 30cm long, 5-15mm broad, tapering at both ends. Blue-green prominently veined. Bracts lance-shaped 1 to 5 cm long.
Grows erect, single-leaved up to 30cm tall from a scaly bulb.
Threatened due to cattle grazing and loss of habitat due to afforestation.
