Autumn in our part of Tuscany tends to be short-lived as an extended summer moves fairly quickly into winter. The colours shown here can be seen for only a couple of weeks, but are beautiful while they last. This view is taken from the terrace in front of our house and looks roughly east across the valley. The valley itself is blind, curving round to our side not far off to the right of the shot, A result of this is that mists rising in the next valley, which is deeper, climb over the hill and flow into the contours of the hill like a slow-moving white ribbon.
