Artist's Description

At Borana Lodge in the foothills of Mt. Kenya, as well as a huge area where four-legged animals roam free from the threat of poachers, there is a dam that attracts a large number of birds. This pelican was one of a pair that circled noisily to clear the ‘runway’ and then made its approach, touching down quite elegantly.

Canon D60 with 300mm f.28 IS lens & x2 extender, 1/1500, f5.6, ISO400
