Artist's Description

One of the fun parts of walking around land that has been farmed for some time is finding “old stuff”. These fence posts have been around a long time. Nature has been working away at them, weathering them through storms, sun, and wind. The moss has taken up permanent residence on the old wood. The wire is rusted to a pleasant reddish brown. The posts are leaning after many years of freeze-thaw cycles. My Dad doesn’t understand why I like photos of worn out fences. “Can’t you take a picture of a new, straight fence?” he asks. I tell him the old fence posts embody the idea of perservering through the tough times. He shakes his head, and I smile.
