Stranger In The Mist

The rain fell hard outside her window, as the wind howled and raped through the trees. It frightened her, and she jumped slightly backward; knocking over the warm cup of chocolate and having it come crashing to the ground. The liquid soaked through her grandmothers embroidered rug. Slowly, it crept down the hallway to her big wooden book case. Dribbles touched it, creating slight mold on the wood’s edge.

As she watched the warm drink divower her book case, something walked up behind her and tapped her shoulder. Quickly, she cringed away, running for the door.

When she stepped outside, rain caught her. As she ran, the water splashed up onto her legs. She ran through puddles of muddy water, some more gross than the others. Some filled to the rim with gasoline, some with muck and mold.
