As the rain dripped softly down the side of the barn, the windows began to shiver. The birds hid beneath their wings, wiggling ever so slightly, once or twice, to remove the puddle of water that sat upon their backs. All the flowers hugged the ground, and sank into the soil. No one awoke. They were all dreaming, dreaming of many things from castles to forests and houses and dogs. Some dreamt of sunsets, while others dreamt of rain. Little ones dreamt of candy and fairies, while the eldest of them dreamt of love and compassion. These things appearing in their dreams were nothing more than fantasy, no matter how realistic it all was. All dreamt of things that could come true only in dreams, which made people think that something like, pigs flying, for instance, would be more possible and probable, then anything they could think of to brighten their day. But what they did not know, and did not yet realize, was that many of these things were about to come true.
Too many dreams thought of happiness, while outside, a horrible rainstorm was crushing hopes and destroying wishes. The animals, were the only ones that believed enough to satisfy their aching hearts. Though, the sun never shined, the birds always chirped and the bees always buzzed. They knew, without their commitment to the situation, without their love, no one would go on living. And, although many humans had already thought of suicide, they had not performed the act because, the trust that the animals had in the worst of times, kept their spirits alive and well. No matter how bad it might be, they never did anything they could have someday regretted.
Outside, many of the newest additions to the house, the cats and such, were at work, fiddling with this and that, trying to make their masters lives ever so slightly better. And, with every paw that mended things, and with every claw that cut into the wood, it made everything slowly, but surely, seem much better. In many ways, this was a mind trick. For none of these animals could truly give their masters what they deserved, but the fact that they cared crept into the walls and slid past each door down the hall. It floated into the rooms and cradled the humans, somehow warming their lives. The love exchanged between master and pet, made life, at its worst, worth living. And thats what kept the animals up all night and day, trying to fix things and make the sorrow go away. The love of the humans, and the love of the cats, and many other animals that now surrounded the millions of houses on every street on every block, in every town, in every city, made life a little less painful and a little more precious to each and every one of those animals, and to each and every one of those humans. And, all in all, it made everything seem just a little bit better.

Artist's Description

This is not something I had already written and then added to my account. This, actually, just came to me while i was sitting here reading others work. Its not my best. But, its something. Its not finished yet either, but, for now thats all I’m going to add, because, I can’t think of anything else. If anyone has any feedback or any advice on what i should have next, please tell me. I’m not exactly sure where I’m going with this story. So, I need some help developing it a little more, or a lot more. I just need some help. I don’t have a website with any of my other work, but I’ll add some more soon, and if you would like to know what kind of thing I’m going for read some of my favorites. Also, if it helps, I really like the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. So if anyone knows those books, they could help me make it more like that style of writing. Thank you for reading, I hope you liked it.
