Artist's Description

The Arid Garden is the Green Valley Gardeners’ demonstration garden in Green Valley, Arizona, twenty-five miles south of Tucson. The garden is common area between two homeowners’ associations and is the backyard for six lucky homes. It is constantly changing. In 2007, there were three calamities that happened during the year: a record freeze, a truck that flew threw the surrounding wall and damaged and bridge and plants, and a monsoon wind that blew down a 80-foot eucalyptus tree. After the initial shock of the events, they were viewed as opportunities to do new things in the garden. It is totally maintained by volunteers.

Photographed with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ 50.
