Artist's Description

Of the five subspecies of Red-shouldered Hawks, the one found here in Florida is the palest in color, but this one is a real beauty. It may sound a little gross, but the way to find these hawks’ nests, is to look on the ground for their feces. By the time a nestling is five days old, it can shoot its poop over the edge of the nest. Good housekeeping, I guess. Photographed in Lake County, Florida.
