Teasel (Dipsacus sylvestris) is a wildflower (weed) in the family Teasel – it’s a biennial that reproduces by seed – flowers in the summer every 2 years – flowers are blue/violet and the leaves are opposite/whorled – grows in waste areas, meadows and along roadsides, up to 6 feet tall – spent flower is brown and prickly and the stem has very hard and prickly thorns – produces up to 3000 seeds so great for the birds in the winter
