Artist's Description

Taken about 5km outside of sleepy Boorowa in NSW.

The introduction of road transport has seen a lot of the rail structure in NSW being disused. This was the Boorowa Railway line, running from Galong (which was on the Main South Line to Melbourne). Opened in 1914, it had a mixed train service running three times a week. In 1929 a railmotor service was added three days a week which ran until 1949. All services stopped in 1974.
