Artist's Description

The “39er Denkmal” was completed shortly before troops marched into Poland at the start of world war 2. It depicts the glorification of war by the Nationalsozialist (Nazi) party , and shows soldiers arising from the grave and marching with unbroken will into battle. It survived destruction after the war ended as it was considered to be a memorial to the fallen soldiers.
It is situated at Reeser Platz in Golzheim, Düsseldorf, NRW, Germany.
