Artist's Description

A Zeesenboot, in “plat-German” "Zeesboot “or "Zeeskahn “, is a usually 10 meter long, wide hull wooden sailing boat, which is suitable for relatively protected, flat waters. It was developed from the vorpommerschen Zeesekahn, which is not identical to the Zeeskahn of the Stettiner Haffs. It was designed as fishing vessel for the Zeesenfischerei. Today Zeesenboote are used predominantly as leisure sailing boats.
This capture was made at the Museum at Prerow during restoration work on a 70 year old vessel.
