This image was inspired by the works of 17th century artists such as Sanchez Cotan,Pieter Claesz,Louise Moillon and Jaques Linard
Image taken with a Nikon D90 using a Sigma 150 f2.8 macro lens the lighting was a single Bowens studio light ( Bodegon paintings would only ever have a single lighting source) with a black background I also used a 09 ND filter to further blacken the background area.
This image also has a personal metaphorical meaning for me with the use of the pocket watch wrapped in the skin of a lemon.
The time on the watch was the time I was born, with each pip symbolising notable events within my life, events that leave a bitter feeling the pips further symbolising the growth of the new from these bitter experiences and how it shapes us as people.
THIS PIECE OF WORK IS BEST PRESENTED ON CANVAS
Time is a Lemon is linked to another piece called Times Eye
Please see Times Eye for my reaction on “Time” Thank you
