Artist's Description

Not seen for some 30 years. This wreck along with two other ships were blown on to the beach in heavy seas and strong winds. Over time the sands built up and swallowed the the three. Another storm about a month ago washed the sands back into the sea, revealing much of the Koondooloo.
The date was January 8th 1972. The three ships Koondooloo, Sydney Queen and the Lurgurena, were being towed to the Phillipines for scrapping. A storm had forced them to take shelter in Trial Bay. All three broke their moorings and were beached.
