Artist's Description

I was planning on photographing star Trails tonight at North Curl Curl. The sky has been so clear recently and the moon wasn’t rising till after 11pm so it seemed like the perfect night. I went just a little way into the bush and set up my tripod.

Unfortunately I had left the part of my cable release that connects to my camera at home so could not do an exposure longer than 30 seconds. Even at iso 6400 and with my lens wide open I just had enough light for a 30 second exposure. While not the same quality as I usually shoot, and not really capable of large prints, I am amazed at the quality you can get out of less than ideal situations. Even when I am not organised enough to carry a spare cable release.

I am just glad I didn’t walk further in the darkness into the bush before finding out.

This image is part of my personal photo per day project.
