Artist's Description

Five arches, deep shadows, a hot summer sky and the soft tones of sandstone make an interesting mix.

This is one of the most famous buildings in Australia – but I decided to shoot it from an angle that is very unusual. This was shot at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra a fortnight ago, on 17 February 2011.

I think it’s extremely fitting that there is a small bird in full flight, just off-centre in this frame.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F11, 1/350 sec, ISO 200, focal length 18mm.

Featured in A MOMENT IN TIME, March 2011.

Featured in INTERNATIONAL POINT OF INTEREST, March 2011.
