Artist's Description

What is this mystery object? Put on your thinking caps, have as many guesses as you want – and most of all, have fun. Your time starts …. NOW!

Question 1: What is it? Solved by Australian Red Bubbler Craig Stronner who identified them as bike handlebars; and UK-based Red Bubbler Ellis Morley Photography, who went one step further and said they were hire bikes.

Question 2: Where did I shoot it? Solved by Canadian Red Bubbler Leslie, who answered New York City.

Question 3: Which type of obsolete cycle took its name from two coins? Solved again by Ellis Morley Photography, who said the cycle was the “penny farthing” – the term derived from the fact that the mismatched size of the wheels was relative to the size difference between a penny and a farthing.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/180 sec, ISO 400, focal length 88mm.
